Import Contacts

Bring a CSV of contacts into your workspace.

    Prepare the file

Save your spreadsheet as CSV. Put a header row at the top and one contact per row after it:

    first_name,last_name,email,phone,company,tags
    Priya,Sharma,priya@example.com,+919876543210,Acme,vip
    Rahul,Verma,rahul@example.com,+919812345678,Beta Ltd,newsletter

Header names do not have to match exactly — you map them in the next step.

    Import

    1. Go to Audience → Contacts and choose Import.
    2. Select your CSV.
    3. Map each column in your file to a SurveyKar field. Leave columns you do not need unmapped.
    4. Review the preview.
    5. Import.

    What happens to duplicates

Contacts are matched on email address. An existing contact is updated rather than duplicated.

    Common problems

    • Phone numbers missing the country code — WhatsApp cannot use them.
    • Excel stripping a leading + or 0 — format the phone column as text before exporting.
    • The wrong file type — .xlsx is not CSV. Use Save as → CSV in your spreadsheet program.
    • Over your plan's contact limit — the import stops at the cap.

See Contact Import Failed if it does not work.

Warning — Only import people who agreed to hear from you. Importing a bought list is the fastest route to being marked as spam.
