Attachment

Let respondents upload a file as part of their response.

The Attachment question adds a file upload button to the survey. Respondents can upload documents, images, spreadsheets, or other files alongside their answers. Uploaded files are securely stored and linked to the response — you can download them individually or in bulk from the response detail view.

    When to use it

    Reach for Attachment when:

    • you are collecting documents as part of an application or intake process (CV, portfolio, signed form)
    • you need evidence alongside a report (screenshot of a bug, photo of a damaged item)
    • you are running a submission-based contest or application workflow

    How to configure it

Open the question in the builder and expand Settings:

    • Accepted file types — restrict uploads to specific types (images, PDFs, Word documents, spreadsheets, or any combination).
    • Maximum file size — set a per-file size limit in MB.
    • Maximum files — allow respondents to upload more than one file.
    • Required — force at least one upload before the respondent can continue.

    Tips

Warning — Always restrict accepted file types to exactly what you need. Accepting "any file type" is a security and storage risk — a respondent could upload an executable or an unexpectedly large file.

Tip — If you are collecting images (e.g. photos of a delivered package), restrict to image types (JPEG, PNG, WebP) and set a generous size limit. Mobile photos can be 5–10 MB each.
