Signature
Capture a drawn or typed signature.
The Signature question presents a canvas where respondents draw their signature with a mouse, touchpad, or finger on mobile. The signature is saved as an image file and attached to the response. It is used to collect acknowledgement, consent, or a formal sign-off without printing and scanning paper.
When to use it
Reach for Signature when:
- you need a personal acknowledgement that someone has read and accepted terms
- you are collecting consent forms, waivers, or delivery confirmations
- you want a sign-off that is more deliberate than a checkbox
How to configure it
Open the question in the builder and expand Settings:
- Pen color — the ink color for the drawn signature.
- Background color — the canvas background.
- Clear button — allow respondents to clear and redraw the signature.
- Required — force a signature before the respondent can continue.
Tips
Warning — A digital signature collected through SurveyKar is a convenience acknowledgement, not a legally binding electronic signature under eIDAS, ESIGN, or equivalent legislation. If you need legally binding e-signatures, use a dedicated e-signature service. Consult your legal team before using the Signature type for binding agreements.
Tip — The Signature question works best on tablets and mobile devices where drawing with a finger feels natural. On desktop, respondents draw with a mouse, which often produces less tidy results — consider whether this matters for your use case.
