The Description Block adds a block of formatted text to the survey flow. It is not a question — it collects no data. Use it to orient respondents, explain a section''s purpose, include a disclaimer, or add a transition between topic areas.

    When to use it

    Reach for Description Block when:

    • you need to name or introduce a section of questions ("Part 2: About your experience")
    • a question or set of questions requires a scenario or background for context
    • you need to include legal text, a privacy notice, or instructions
    • you want a visual break between unrelated topic areas in the survey

    How to configure it

Open the question in the builder and click into the text field. The Description Block uses a rich text editor:

    • Headings (H1, H2, H3)
    • Bold, italic, underline
    • Unordered and numbered lists
    • Hyperlinks
    • Horizontal rules

    Tips

Tip — Use Description Blocks to name survey sections and show progress. Respondents who know they are on "Part 2 of 3" feel more oriented and are less likely to abandon.

Tip — Keep description text concise. Respondents skim surveys; a paragraph of instructions is more likely to be ignored than a single clear sentence. If you need more than three sentences of context, consider whether the question itself needs rewriting.
