Image Choice
Let respondents pick from options displayed as images.
The Image Choice question replaces text labels with images as the selectable options. Respondents click a picture to choose. It dramatically improves engagement for preference testing, design feedback, or any question where a visual communicates the option better than a word.
When to use it
Reach for Image Choice when:
- options are visual by nature (logos, product designs, UI screenshots, photos)
- you are running A/B concept testing or mood-board research
- you want to increase engagement and make the survey feel less like a form
How to configure it
Open the question in the builder and expand Settings:
- Options — each option has an image upload and an optional text caption below it.
- Single vs. multi-select — choose whether respondents can pick one image or several.
- Grid columns — set how many images appear per row (2, 3, or 4 columns).
- Show captions — toggle whether the caption text appears beneath each image.
- Required — force a selection before the respondent can continue.
Tips
Tip — Use images that are consistent in size, resolution, and visual style. If one option looks more polished than the others it will attract more clicks regardless of actual preference — this is a validity problem, not just an aesthetic one.
Tip — Keep captions short. If you find yourself writing a paragraph to explain an image, the image is not the right medium for that option.
