Conditional Logic

Conditional logic makes one survey behave like several. A respondent only sees the questions that apply to them.

Add a rule

1. Open the survey's Logic view.
2. Add a rule. A rule reads: when [question] [comparison] [value], then [action].
3. Choose the action — show a question, hide it, or jump to a later question or page.
4. Save, then check the flow diagram.

The flow diagram

Logic is drawn as a diagram of your questions and the paths between them. It is the fastest way to spot the two mistakes that matter:

• A question no path can reach.
• A loop that sends someone back to a question they already answered.

Worked example

Q1: Have you contacted support in the last 3 months? Yes / No

• When Q1 is Yes → show "How satisfied were you with support?"
• When Q1 is No → skip to the next section.

Test every branch

Preview the survey once per path. A branch is only correct if you have actually walked it — reading the rules is not the same as testing them.

Warning — Deleting a question that a rule points at breaks the rule. Check your logic after removing anything.
