Date
Let respondents pick a specific date from a calendar.
The Date question displays a calendar picker. Respondents click a date to select it. All responses are stored in a consistent ISO format, making them easy to sort, filter, and export without any "March 5th" vs "03/05/2024" inconsistencies.
When to use it
Reach for Date when:
- you need a specific calendar date — a birthday, an appointment, a purchase date, an event date
- you plan to filter or sort responses by date in Reports
- you want to prevent format inconsistencies that come from a free-text date field
How to configure it
Open the question in the builder and expand Settings:
- Minimum date — the earliest date the picker will allow. Set this to today to restrict to future dates only.
- Maximum date — the latest date the picker will allow. Set this to today for past-only dates such as a birth date.
- Date format — controls how the selected date is displayed to the respondent (DD/MM/YYYY, MM/DD/YYYY, etc.). The stored value is always ISO 8601.
- Required — force a selection before the respondent can continue.
Tips
Tip — Set a minimum date of "today" for event booking or appointment questions — this prevents respondents from accidentally picking a past date.
Tip — For birth dates, set a maximum date of "today" and a minimum date 120 years ago to cover the realistic range without showing years that make no sense.
