Like / Dislike
Binary thumbs-up or thumbs-down — the fastest possible rating.
The Like / Dislike question gives respondents exactly two choices: a positive reaction or a negative one. It is the fastest possible rating — one click, zero ambiguity, no scale to interpret.
When to use it
Reach for Like / Dislike when:
- you need a quick pulse on a piece of content, a feature, or an experience
- the survey is short and mobile-first — speed of completion matters
- you want a binary split: positive vs. negative, useful vs. not useful
How to configure it
Open the question in the builder and expand Settings:
- Icon style — choose thumbs up/down, hearts, smiley/frown, or custom emoji.
- Positive label — the label for the positive option, e.g. "Helpful".
- Negative label — the label for the negative option, e.g. "Not helpful".
- Required — force a selection before the respondent can continue.
Tips
Tip — Pair Like / Dislike with a conditional Long Text follow-up: if the respondent clicks the negative option, show a question asking what went wrong. This turns a binary signal into actionable qualitative feedback without adding friction to the positive path.
Tip — This type works well embedded in transactional emails ("Was this article helpful?") where you want a single-click response without asking the reader to open a full survey.
