Every question type available, and which one to reach for.

SurveyKar has more than twenty question types. These are the ones you will use most, grouped by what they are for.
Text answers
- Short text — names, one-line answers.
- Long text — open comments.
- Signature — a drawn signature.
Choosing from options
- Multiple choice (single) — one answer from a list.
- Checkboxes — several answers from a list.
- Dropdown — one answer from a long list.
- Yes / No — a two-way question.
- Image choice — options shown as pictures.
- Cascading dropdown — dependent lists, like Country → State → City.
Scales and scores
- Rating and Star rating — a 1–5 or 1–10 scale.
- NPS — the standard 0–10 recommendation question.
- CSAT and CES — satisfaction and effort scores.
- Likert — agreement scales.
- Slider — a continuous value.
Grids and ranking
- Matrix — the same scale across several rows.
- Ranking — drag options into order.
- MaxDiff — best/worst trade-offs across sets.
- Conjoint — preference between feature bundles.
- Kano — feature importance by paired questions.
Other
- Date, File upload, Description (text only, no answer), Media image, Page break, and a reCAPTCHA challenge.
Warning — Which types you can use depends on your plan. Types outside your plan appear locked in the type picker with the plan that unlocks them.
